Barcelona City Council has decided to change the location for the broadcast of the 2026 Football World Cup final. The event will now take place at the Marina Platform at the Fòrum, in the Sant Martí district, with access from Josep Pla street and Litoral avenue. This decision aims to ensure better capacity and viewing conditions for attendees.
The chosen venue offers a larger capacity than initially planned for Martí i Franquès street. The final, which will see the Spanish national team face Argentina, is scheduled to kick off at 9:00 PM. To facilitate access, TMB's metro network will extend its operating hours until 1:00 AM, recommending the use of Line 4 with the El Maresme | Fòrum station as the closest stop.
Starting at 7:00 PM, entertainment with games and music will commence, followed by the match's pre-show at 8:30 PM. The live broadcast from La 2Cat will begin at the scheduled match start time of 9:00 PM. Access controls will be in place, and alcoholic beverages, cans, and glass bottles will not be permitted, fostering a festive, respectful, and family-friendly atmosphere.
This initiative follows other live broadcasts of sporting events recently organized by the City Council, including the Women's Champions League final at Parc de les Glòries and the Men's Euro Cup final at Plaça de Catalunya. The Institut Barcelona Esports reaffirms its commitment to making major sporting events open civic celebrations for all citizens.
