CE Europa has won the tender from the Gràcia district to manage the Camp de l’Àguila, overcoming Penya Barcelonista Barcino and ending a decade without direct control of the sports facility.

The Gràcia district contracting board accepted the proposal from CE Europa, which scored 50 points, surpassing the 31.11 points of Penya Barcelonista Barcino, the current manager, and the 27.55 points of the Fundació Catalonia Sport. This resolution, expected to be formalized in a couple of weeks, represents an economic relief for the entity, as it will switch from paying rent to collecting it.

"It is not the same having to pay rent as collecting it."

Although the social and sporting proposals from CE Europa and Penya Barcino were identical (20 points), the 'escapulat' club clearly prevailed in the economic section. CE Europa will invest just over 100,000 euros in the facilities and will pay a higher fee to the City Council, around 22,500 euros, with an estimated concession value of 682,328.00 euros.
The loss of management of the Camp de l’Àguila occurred in 2017 due to a “formal defect” in the tender submitted by the previous board of directors. The Gràcia club has corrected the bureaucratic errors from a first tender that was declared void late last year. Europa's intention is to maintain the schedule of activities and not “monopolize” the space, which is also used by other groups.
This good news coincides with the start of a new sporting phase for the first team, which will play its matches in exile at Can Dragó. The RFEF remains reluctant to allow the club to play at its home stadium, the Nou Sardenya, due to the artificial turf pitch, a matter the club continues to fight in court.
