The process to declare the creator of the Sagrada Família a blessed individual continues, with documentation now under review at the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints. This case, involving the recovery of an infant, is considered crucial for the validation of the miracle required by the Catholic Church.
“"The miracle is already under study."
Although excessive details are being withheld due to the initial phase of the procedure, it has been confirmed that the alleged miracle involves a newborn. The family linked to the case received medical treatments in several countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, and Barcelona, after the health issue was detected during pregnancy. Currently, the child is already walking, according to sources.
Gaudí's beatification received a significant boost on April 14, 2025, when Pope Francis declared him “venerable.” For his proclamation as blessed, the Church requires the validation of a miracle attributed to his intercession. This process includes an independent medical review to determine if the recovery has a scientific explanation, followed by approval from theologians, cardinals, and finally, Pope Leo XIV.
Despite the progress, it is considered unlikely that the beatification will be announced during the pontiff's upcoming trip to Spain, due to pending administrative and medical timelines. A possible resolution could come by the end of this year. The cause for Gaudí's beatification began in the 1990s by a lay association and was later formally taken over by the archdiocese of Barcelona.
