The mobilization, which has already collected over 1,500 signatures, strongly opposes the urban reorganization of the space located in Riera Blanca, between the Santa Eulàlia metro station and Plaça de l’Escorça.
Residents, supported by the Comuns parties in L’Hospitalet and Barcelona, criticize that the municipal government led by Jaume Collboni plans to cut up to 30% of the area initially designated as an urban park.
What we want is clear: the maximum possible green space, affordable housing, and public facilities that we have been demanding for years.
Changes to the Metropolitan General Plan would allow the construction of buildings up to 12 stories high and approximately 110 high-priced private homes, increasing pressure on one of Europe's most densely populated urban environments.
Key demands include a Primary Care Center (CAP), a nursery school, and a neighborhood center. The groups have announced that protests will continue until the administrations involved review the project. A new concentration is scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, at Plaça Sant Jaume.
