The L'Hospitalet City Council adhered to the call made by the Federación Española de Municipios y Provincias (FEMP) to hold an act of mourning and support. The tribute took place on Monday at 12 noon in front of the City Hall Square.
The railway accident, which occurred on Sunday near the Córdoba municipality of Adamuz, has so far resulted in a tragic toll of 39 fatalities and 152 injuries. This disaster is considered one of the most serious recorded in Spain in recent decades.
The incident occurred when an Iryo company train, traveling from Málaga to Madrid with 317 people on board, derailed its last three carriages and invaded the adjacent track. At that moment, an Alvia train operated by Renfe was traveling on that track, causing a head-on collision.

The Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, used these words to describe the disaster, without providing any official hypothesis regarding the causes of the serious accident.
