Albert Miró Pladevall, the last of three generations running the century-old Bar Colombia, died at the age of 80 this Friday in Sant Andreu, as confirmed by the Centre d’Estudis Ignasi Iglésias.

Bar Colombia, located on the rambla de Fabra i Puig, is considered the oldest institution in the Sant Andreu de Palomar neighborhood, boasting over a hundred years of history. Albert Miró spent forty years behind the bar, maintaining the establishment's spirit.

Before the Franco regime, the establishment was known as Bar Hispano and became a key meeting point, often for “semi-clandestine” gatherings, where Miró was known for his discreet and kind hospitality. He frequently referred to his customers as friends.
Numerous personalities and entities in Sant Andreu have expressed their condolences, including the UE de Sant Andreu football club, Junts spokesperson Ximena Gadea, and ERC spokesperson Carlos Escuredo, highlighting Colombia's role as an undisputed neighborhood hub.
