The Barcelona City Council has confirmed the installation of natural grass at the Sant Andreu and Europa stadiums, a decision that comes after pressure from the clubs and their fan bases.

This measure, announced this Monday, puts an end to a long-standing controversy that had intensified with Sant Andreu's recent promotion to Primera Federación. The club, like Europa, which has already competed in this category, needed natural grass to meet league requirements, which had forced the latter to temporarily relocate to the Can Dragó field.
The resolution was reached during a meeting between municipal representatives and the clubs. One of the main obstacles was the relocation of youth teams, as the fields with natural grass, Narcís Sala and Nou Sardenya, will no longer be able to host training sessions for youth categories.
To address this issue, the Barcelona City Council has specified that Sant Andreu's youth teams will train at the AISS fields, in Bon Pastor and Baró de Viver. Meanwhile, Europa's teams, in addition to the Àliga field, will have new training spaces in Mundet. Procedures for installing natural grass at both stadiums have already begun, with the aim of having it ready for the next season.

"We want to thank all the neighborhood mobilization articulated through the Salvem el Narcís Sala Platform and the speed and personal involvement of the mayor, the Sports councilor, and the councilor of the Sant Andreu District."
