The Casal de Barri de la Verneda (Neighborhood Center), located in the Sant Martí district, closed indefinitely on January 30 due to severe roof damage, forcing the remodeling schedule to be brought forward.

The closure occurred after heavy rains in recent weeks severely aggravated the poor condition of the roof, compromising the safety of the facility. The technical team managing the center warns that, in the best-case scenario, the facility will not reopen for another year.
This emergency situation has forced the council to significantly advance the timeline for the space's remodeling works. These works were initially scheduled for 2027, but it is now anticipated that they may begin during this current year.
In the meantime, the Sant Martí District is working to relocate all the activities and services hosted by the community facility. Currently, only the playroom (ludoteca) has been successfully moved to Ca l’Arnó, while provisional locations are being sought for the remaining services.
