The dispute over the old Can Raventós farmhouse and its gardens, owned by the real estate company Corp, will be the central theme of a follow-up request to the motion approved on June 21. This motion urged the City Council to negotiate to ensure that both the building and the entire garden become public use.
The initial citizen proposal, which had received internal approval from the consistory, aimed to convert the estate into a climate refuge and the new Popular Culture House of Sarrià.
In this Friday's plenary session, the republican councilors will ask the Collboni executive to report on the execution status of that agreement and why the roadmap providing for the total land swap is being abandoned.
According to sources close to the negotiation, the Barcelona City Council is close to agreeing on a partial swap with the real estate company Corp, which would allow the construction of private housing on the premises. This option would represent a significant step back for the aspirations of the Sarrià neighborhood.
The original total swap plan transferred the urban development rights held by the developer to three different, privileged locations, without implying any reduction in Corp's urban rights. Municipal sources assure that the pact is not yet closed and that negotiations continue.
