The town of Berga brought its Carnival celebrations to a close this Wednesday with the traditional Burial of the Sardine, ending an edition significantly impacted by weather conditions.

The funeral procession started at plaça de Sant Pere, accompanying the remains of this year's queens, Thelma and Louise. The parade moved through the streets to plaça del Forn, marking the symbolic end of the festivities and the beginning of Lent.
Participants included the La Bauma dels Encantats group and musicians from the Berga Municipal School of Music. During the ceremony, the Notary of Madrona read the last will and testament of the carnival queens to the gathered crowd.
This year's Carnival was particularly challenging due to high winds that forced the rescheduling of main events. The farewell concluded with a traditional sardine barbecue organized by the Penya Boletaire de Berga and local theater group La Farsa.
