The Catalan Transit Service and Berga City Council have agreed to close city exits leading to the C-16 highway northbound every Friday afternoon, effective March 20th.

The measure aims to stop drivers from cutting through Berga's city center to bypass highway traffic jams. Closures will operate from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM at key locations including the Guillem de Berguedà institute and the local hospital.

"We have tested similar actions in Platja d'Aro that worked, and I am confident that these measures will also be successful in Berga."

Drivers attempting to head north will be forced to redirect to the Berga Sud roundabout. Additionally, authorities have coordinated with Google to prevent navigation apps from suggesting residential streets as alternative routes during peak hours.
