The decision to deactivate the special emergency plan for snowfall in Catalonia (Neucat) was taken on Saturday evening, after the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya confirmed improved forecasts. The snowfall left significant depths, notably 56 centimeters in Certascan (Pallars Sobirà) and 50 centimeters in Malniu (Cerdanya).
Despite the general improvement, traffic remains affected at several points in the Pyrenees. The BV-4031 (between kilometers 11 and 26), the C-28 (between 37 and 56), and the BV-4024 (between 17 and 21) roads remain closed. Furthermore, the use of chains is mandatory on the C-142b in Naut Aran (Vall d'Aran) and on the LV-5004 in Espot (Pallars Sobirà).
Civil Protection maintains the pre-alert status for strong winds (Ventcat plan) and for avalanche risk (Allaucat plan). Strong wind gusts are expected until after dawn, although the episode is already subsiding.
Regarding the avalanche risk, a strong warning remains in effect for the Aran area and the northern strip of the Pallaresa until Monday. This dangerous situation results from the combination of accumulated snow and strong north-westerly winds.
