The Berga Grup Independent (BeGI) party has publicly criticized the Berga City Council for continuing to collect driveway access taxes (vados) despite the absence of a functional municipal towing service.

Spokeswoman Judit Vinyes presented data showing that the city has collected 456,737 euros over the past five years from approximately 1,850 annual receipts. Vinyes described the situation as dishonest, arguing that citizens are paying for a service that the local administration is currently unable to provide.

"It is understood that there must be a towing service."

Mayor Ivan Sànchez responded by clarifying that the tax covers the legal right to block access and sidewalk maintenance. However, he admitted the need for the service and confirmed that Berga will soon launch a new tender process after the previous attempt failed to attract bidders.
