The Generalitat de Catalunya's Department of Territory has launched emergency works on the C-16 highway in Cercs this February to address urgent safety concerns raised by local authorities.

The main action involves removing the second southbound lane towards Manresa at kilometer point 101. This measure aims to prevent dangerous overtaking and high speeds over a 600-meter stretch that has seen recent accidents in the Berguedà region.
In addition to lane changes, crews are painting a central buffer zone to separate traffic directions. The project includes rumble strips to alert drifting drivers and new reflective road studs to enhance nighttime visibility.
Speed limits will also be strictly reduced to 70 km/h in a specific curved section. The Government will monitor the impact of these changes and remains open to further interventions if road safety does not improve.
