The Catalan Land Institute (Incasòl) has launched the tender for the urbanization of 9 new plots in the Olvan industrial park, with a public investment of €2.25 million. This package of works will also guarantee the definitive water supply for the entire park.
These new actions follow a first package of works that facilitated the arrival of companies such as Serviobres Queralt and Panalabel. According to the mayor of Olvan, Sebastià Prat, sales have already been made and there are advanced negotiations for new companies.
The combination of both work packages will enable the activation of approximately 16 hectares of industrial land. The tasks will include paving and street improvements, such as enhancing the Vic road and resurfacing the street leading to the town. The mayor emphasizes that the visual impact will be significantly greater than in previous projects.
The new tender also includes the channeling of the Cal Càntir stream, the definitive water supply connecting to the municipal pipeline Cal Rosal – Olvan, the extension of the sewage and lighting networks, and new connection points for the telecommunications network.
Interested companies can submit offers until September 25th. The works, with an estimated duration of 10 and a half months, are expected to be completed by the end of next year.
This second phase of works will allow for the development of plots of 10,000, 9,000, and 8,000 m², responding to the demand from local entrepreneurs for large-sized land. The modification of the urban planning, approved this summer, will also enable the merging of plots to create medium-sized land, such as that sought by Paulig (formerly Liven).
The president of the Regional Association of Entrepreneurs, Josep Maria Serarols, welcomes the news while noting the slow pace of administration, while Mayor Prat is confident that the new phase of works and the urban planning changes will attract more companies.
Both Prat and Serarols agree on the importance of the future Olvan electrical substation, which Red Eléctrica de España must include in its 2026-2030 planning, to accommodate factories requiring high electrical power.
