The skier from Berga, Ot Ferrer, made history this February 19 by securing fifth place and an Olympic diploma in the ski mountaineering sprint at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.

At just 23 years old, the athlete from Berguedà has established himself as a top international prospect. Ferrer delivered a stellar performance, advancing through the qualifying rounds and semifinals to reach the final, where he fought for a podium spot until the midpoint of the race.
A minor stumble halfway through the course pushed Ferrer away from the medals after he had reached fourth position. He eventually crossed the finish line in fifth place, on a historic day that saw Oriol Cardona win gold and Ana Alonso take bronze in the women's category.
The local representation also featured Maria Costa. The skier from Santpedor, trained at Mountain Runners del Berguedà, made her Olympic debut by reaching the semifinals, marking a significant milestone for the regional ski mountaineering community.
