This afternoon, significant portions of the plaster from a facade of a building located at Carrer Harmonia, 1 bis, in the old town of Berga, detached. The pieces fell onto the public road, causing a dramatic incident that led to the area being cordoned off as a precaution.
The debris accumulated in the middle of the street required the intervention of the brigade and firefighters, who secured the parts of the facade that posed an immediate risk of falling. The Local Police cordoned off the street section adjacent to the building to ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicles.
The Councilor for Urban Planning, Aleix Serra, confirmed that the closure will remain in place throughout Tuesday. The municipal brigade will assess on Wednesday if further action is needed on the building, which has been uninhabited for some time and appears dilapidated, being considered one of the buildings in poor condition in the old town.
The City Council will initiate the corresponding proceedings. Once the technical report is completed, it will be determined whether the property owner must be required to repair it or if, conversely, it will be declared a ruin and ordered for demolition.
