Civil Protection has activated the Ventcat emergency plan this Sunday following forecasts of severe wind gusts reaching 125 km/h in Berguedà and other northern regions.

The weather event, which began early Sunday morning, is expected to last until the afternoon. According to the Meteorological Service of Catalonia, the most affected areas will be Ripollès, Alt Empordà, and Berguedà.
In addition to these regions, Solsonès and Cerdanya will face winds of up to 100 km/h. Authorities are advising citizens to exercise extreme caution during outdoor activities and travel.
In the mountains, the combination of high winds and snow will create whiteout conditions (torb), significantly reducing visibility above 1,200 meters in the Pyrenees.
