Berga's bus station is currently operating solely as an departure point. Arriving Alsa buses are making a temporary stop at the lower end of Passeig de la Pau, in front of the Dickens bar and Aubes park.
The decision to reduce services was made after small pieces of the historic building's facade fell on the weekend of Saturday, August 8, and Sunday, August 9. The City Council opted to limit the station's operations to ensure safety and prevent accidents.
Repair work has commenced swiftly, with scaffolding erected in front of the Administration bar's entrance. The repairs are expected to be completed efficiently, allowing for the full restoration of all services at Berga's bus station soon.
The Can Gironella building, situated at the intersection of Passeig de la Pau and Carrer del Roser, holds significant historical value. While its origins date back to the 16th century, its most notable uses occurred during the 19th century. In 1811, it housed the military government of the Junta Superior de Catalunya and, from 1837 to 1840, during the Carlist Wars, served as the control center for the Carlist faction.
These facade detachments add to the ongoing issues at Berga's current bus stop. Previously, two different buses experienced brake failures in September 2024 and January 2025. To prevent future incidents, the City Council installed metal bollards on Passeig de la Pau.
Meanwhile, the project for a new bus station at Rasa dels Molins remains stalled in administrative offices. The City Council has requested additional funding from the Generalitat for the access road, as the 250,000 euro contribution from Territori is deemed insufficient to sign the agreement and commence the project.
