The ancient Monastery of Sant Salvador de la Vedella, located in the Baells reservoir, remains the last architectural witness of a village submerged more than half a century ago.

This medieval structure, dating back to the 9th century, emerges on a large rock depending on water levels. For former residents, this building is known as the Castell and represents the only physical link to their past in the Berguedà region.

"As long as the Castle stands, Sant Salvador will exist."

César Gutiérrez · Former resident of Sant Salvador de la Vedella
Preserving the monument is challenging due to water erosion and constant humidity. Despite reinforcements made in 2000, locals are calling for stronger institutional support to ensure the future of this heritage site.
