Athlete Xavi Tomasa has achieved a new regional record in the 10-kilometer road race in Laredo, Cantabria, lowering his own historic best by three seconds.

Last weekend marked a historic moment for athletics in Berguedà, thanks to the outstanding performance of Xavi Tomasa. The athlete completed the 10-kilometer road race in Laredo with a time of 29 minutes and 56 seconds, setting a new record for the region.
This new mark represents a three-second improvement over Tomasa's previous record, which he had set in 2023 during the Cursa dels Bombers. The Laredo race, considered one of the most significant in the country, saw the Ironwill Berga athlete finish in 70th position overall and fourth place in his category (men's +35).
With this latest achievement, Xavi Tomasa now holds the two best historical times in Berguedà's athletics for the 10-kilometer distance. He is the only athlete from the region to have broken the 30-minute barrier in this event. Other athletes like Jan Torrella, with 30:01 in Valencia this year, and Quico Soler (30:03 in Barcelona in 1988) and Toni Baños (30:06 in Valencia in 2025), have come very close to this milestone.
In the women's category, the historical best for the 10 kilometers remains held by Núria Cascante, with a time of 37 minutes and 19 seconds, achieved at the Cursa dels Nassos in Barcelona in 2019.
