The story follows three children, Roc, Eulàlia, and Dolors, who discover the world of Raimunda Bassacs Fornells through a diary found in the Torre de Bassacs. This fictional journey takes them through the 19th century and early 20th century, exploring places, customs, and the life of this businesswoman and mother of eleven.
The narrative also details the lives of Gironella's residents at the time and the evolution of the town's textile industry, with a special focus on the Cal Bassacs factory. The book's publication is closely linked to the creation of Raimunda, the giantess who joined Gironella's festive procession in 2025.
The giantess project, initiated by the Children's Council with support from local institutions, now expands with this story, connecting local heritage with children's imagination.
'La Raimunda, la gegantona de Gironella' was written by Laia Burgos and illustrated by Bernadette Cuxart. Published by La Paumaire, the book is supported by the Gironella City Council and the Barcelona Provincial Council. It is available for 10 euros at various local establishments.
