A large part of the neighborhood in La Nou de Berguedà has voiced its rejection of the new smart waste collection system, claiming it forces them to travel up to five kilometers to dispose of their garbage.

The statement issued by La Nou de Berguedà residents indicates that the new model does not meet the needs of a population characterized by scattered housing. The main grievance is the drastic reduction in collection points, dropping from over ten under the old system to just two currently.
Currently, there is only one smart container point in the center of La Nou and another in Malanyeu, where conventional bins are used. This concentration forces many residents to use their vehicles to travel up to five kilometers to drop off their bags.

"The containers are extremely small, some, similar to the deposits of a shop or a neighbor's staircase."

In addition to the distance, residents report that the cleaning around the containers is inadequate and that the collection manager does not operate with the necessary frequency, causing the deposits to be overflowing many days.
The neighborhood regrets that the new model has resulted in “significant savings for the concessionary company” while, paradoxically, the service has worsened. They state they have filed complaints through official channels without receiving any response.
