The Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (SMC) warns that the arrival of this series of storms will bring scattered rainfall throughout the territory and a generalized drop in temperatures. Rains will begin early Tuesday morning in the Pyrenees and will gradually spread across the rest of Catalonia, maintaining a weak but constant intensity.
The most adverse phenomenon associated with Storm Joseph is the sea temporal. Between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday noon, the SMC has activated yellow warnings for rough seas and waves that could exceed 2.5 meters in height at various points along the coast.
The activated warnings affect the coast of Maresme, Barcelonès, Baix Llobregat, Garraf, Baix Penedès, Tarragonès, and Montsià.
By Wednesday, strong mistral winds are expected to blow across the southern third of Catalonia. In addition to cloudiness and scattered showers, there will be a significant drop in temperatures. In Barcelona, for example, maximum temperatures will fall from 16 degrees to 13 degrees. In Girona and Lleida, thermometers could plummet to zero degrees.
