A 20-year-old driver crashed into the farmers' barricade on the C-16 road in Olvan early Friday morning, suffering minor injuries and being taken to Berga hospital.

The incident occurred at kilometer point 90 of the C-16 at 5:26 AM. The vehicle, driven by the young man, reportedly bypassed the established detour due to the protest and violently impacted a large tire that was part of the blockade.
The Bombers de la Generalitat (Firefighters) mobilized three units to respond to the accident. The driver was urgently transferred to Berga Hospital, although his injuries were classified as minor, according to emergency services.

"The pact is bad for the peasantry, but also for the citizens, since it plays with food safety. Food will arrive from Mercosur made with products that are illegal here."

Jordi Ginabreda · Spokesperson for the Peasantry Guild
This event takes place within the framework of the protests organized by the Gremi de la Pagesia (Peasantry Guild) demanding that the agreement between the European Union and Mercosur not be signed. The organization warns that the pact could have a “devastating” effect on the primary sector and demands the application of mirror clauses.
Road closures remain in effect across other parts of Catalonia, including the AP-7 in Pontós (Alt Empordà) and the access roads to the Port of Tarragona, pending a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, scheduled for Friday afternoon in Tarragona.
