During the weekend of October 3rd and 4th, Catalonia will open its farms with the eleventh edition of Benvinguts a Pagès La Festa. More than 280 participants, including agricultural, livestock, and fishing farms, food producers, restaurants, accommodations, and complementary activities, will join this initiative to highlight food production and the value of local consumption.
Farm visits, which require mandatory prior reservation through benvingutsapages.cat, will allow attendees to learn firsthand how food is produced, converse with producers, taste seasonal products, and purchase them directly at the source. The offering combines visits with gastronomy, rural tourism, nature, and culture.
Since its inception in 2016, Benvinguts a Pagès has attracted over 240,000 visitors. The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food, Òscar Ordeig, highlighted the program's evolution, which not only informs about food production but also fosters new agrotourism experiences and connects regional stakeholders.
This year, 26 new farms and producers are joining the event, expanding the diversity of products and production models represented, from horticulture and fruit to livestock and fishing, including conventional and organic options.
The initiative also features 31 restaurants and 133 accommodations offering gastronomic proposals and rural stays to complete the experience. Highlights include Restaurant Siurana in Cornudella de Montsant and B-Crek Solfa in Olot, as well as accommodations like Xalet de Prades and Cabanes Dosrius.
As a new development, Berguedà will host a pilot experience where tourist accommodations and local producers will collaborate to offer guests local product baskets, strengthening connections between regional agents under the brand «De la terra, del Berguedà».
The Benvinguts a Pagès experience will extend throughout the year with visits to over 120 farms and 16 agrotourism routes across Catalonia.
