The event, held this Saturday, served as a meeting point for the literary interests of attendees, who could exchange experiences on the functioning of their respective clubs. The day included a talk by writer Albert Villaró and an intervention by editor Eduard Fornés.
The initiative arose from a meeting between the heads of the region's municipal libraries, who noted the existence of various reading clubs. Some of these clubs are driven by local residents, such as those in All, Urús, and Llívia, while others are linked to libraries like Puigcerdà's, with a long history, or Bellver's, active for a year. There are also clubs promoted by entities like the Casal Comarcal de la Gent Gran and the Centre Excursionista de Cerdanya.
Marta Llimós, a librarian from Bellver, explained that the meeting's purpose was to reconnect and bring together members of different clubs, many of whom know each other but are spread across the region. She highlighted that the main libraries support many of these initiatives.
“"It was done with the aim of meeting again or meeting for the first time, because many of us know each other but are scattered throughout the region, and we realized that there were many clubs that the main libraries were supporting."
Most participants are middle-aged women, although there are exceptions. According to the librarians, each club operates with its own dynamic, generally meeting once a month. During the gathering, proposals were made, such as creating a shared bibliography of readings. The intention is for this initiative to be repeated annually in the different towns with reading clubs.
