The Prat d'Aguiló refuge, in Cerdanya, celebrates its 50th anniversary with an institutional event organized by the FEEC next Saturday, June 13th.

Next Saturday, June 13th, the Federació d'Entitats Excursionistes de Catalunya (FEEC) will celebrate the golden anniversary of the Prat d'Aguiló refuge, also known as “Cèsar August Torras”. The original inauguration of this refuge took place on October 24, 1976, and now, almost half a century later, this milestone is being commemorated in a prominent location on the north face of the Cadí mountain range, within the municipality of Montellà i Martinet.
The refuge was established in 1976 thanks to the Instituto para la Conservación de la Naturaleza (ICONA), an agency of the Ministry of Agriculture created for the study and conservation of nature. ICONA built the refuge to commemorate the centenary of Catalan mountaineering, near the remains of a former refuge with the same name. ICONA later ceded the facility to the Town Council of Montellà i Martinet, which in turn transferred it to the FEEC in 1978.
Although the original architectural structure remains intact, the refuge has undergone several renovations over the years. The most recent include the complete renewal of the photovoltaic system in 2014, the replacement of a section of the roof, and the renovation of the septic tank, both carried out in 2020.
Hikers visiting the refuge on the day of the celebration will be offered a small aperitif around midday.
The Prat d'Aguiló refuge is located at 2,020 meters above sea level, on the north slope of the Pas dels Gosolans, one of the emblematic passes of the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park. It is a key stop on the Cavalls del Vent trek and an access point for reaching the summit of Comabona. It also serves as a base for mountaineering. It can be reached on foot from Olià via the PR-C 124, from the Coll de les Bassotes via the same PR-C 124, or by vehicle via a track from Montellà, leaving the car near the refuge.
