The Ripollès Regional Council believes the region is suffering a territorial "grievance" and is demanding the return of free travel on the R3 railway line. The line is currently suspended between Ribes de Freser and Puigcerdà-Tor de Querol due to tunnel improvement works, forcing passengers to use bus services.
In addition to the service suspension, train frequencies have been halved, from eight to four trains daily, significantly increasing travel times. The regional council also calls for the "as soon as possible" reinstatement of eliminated services, citing the last train from Ripoll as an example, which previously arrived at 00:07 and now arrives at 20:10.
In contrast, the regional body positively notes the increase in users on the bus line between Camprodon and Barcelona, which has grown by 35% in the past year, and the Ripoll-Girona connection, which has seen a 26% increase.
