The Llívia Town Council has completed a 67,604 euro renovation of the municipal sports pavilion water network to ensure user safety and eliminate the risk of bacterial outbreaks.

The project was funded by the Diputació de Girona (20,000 euros) and the Generalitat de Catalunya (45,000 euros). These grants were part of emergency plans for municipal facilities and public health safety.
Technical reports from Dipsalut had been warning since 2021 that the facility's water system did not meet safety standards, posing a Legionella risk. Following recent pressure from the Health Department regarding potential sanctions, the local government prioritized the total overhaul of the system.
The upgrades include new water heaters and thermostatic timed faucets in the locker rooms and restrooms. These measures are designed to prevent the colonization of Legionella bacteria, which can cause serious respiratory illness if inhaled through contaminated aerosols.
