The Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan Police), along with the Local Police, the National Police, and the Civil Guard, organized a special operation in Puigcerdà this Friday. The action is part of the Lake Festival events and included police checks at the entrances and central points of the town.
The primary objective was to locate individuals with police records, detect narcotic substances, and confiscate dangerous objects. Checks were particularly focused on the nightlife area between 11:00 PM and 4:00 AM.
As a result, 162 individuals with a total of 130 prior police records were identified, with two individuals each having 21 previous records. Furthermore, the National Police arrested four men for violating immigration regulations and summoned two more to regularize their administrative status.
Six citations were issued for violations of the Citizen Security Law: two for possession of narcotics, two for carrying bladed weapons, and two for disrespecting law enforcement officers.
Regarding mobility, 35 vehicles were inspected. One driver was criminally charged for a positive alcohol test, while two others received administrative citations for the same reason. Three more drivers tested positive for drugs.
A scooter was also seized for various infractions, and another was cited for lacking insurance. Additionally, five inspections were conducted in entertainment venues, leading to several administrative citations for non-compliance with the law regulating public performances and recreational activities.
Agents from Citizen Security and the Investigation Unit of the ABP Cerdanya participated in the operation, as well as personnel from the Regional Unit of Operational Resources, the Regional Unit of Administrative Police, and Traffic.
The overall aim of the operation was to prevent crime, identify individuals at risk of recidivism, combat drug trafficking and the possession of prohibited weapons, and monitor potential violations in the town's entertainment establishments.
