The Festa de l’Estany in Puigcerdà, an emblematic event in the Cerdanya region, reaches its 140th edition this year with record participation. The celebration, running until Sunday, is highlighted by a parade of 28 floats, accompanied by 13 groups, surpassing previous years' figures and demonstrating the festival's vitality.
Núria Laura Muñoz, Puigcerdà's festival councillor, emphasized this year's "high participation," with "new groups" and a "very colorful, large, and beautiful parade." Muñoz expressed satisfaction with the involvement of the local "cultural and artistic collective."
The event program, starting today, includes concerts, parades, a fire run, a foam party, the 38th Lake Crossing, and a performance of the legend of the Vella de l’Estany. Notably, local group Uri Moner will perform on Friday at Plaça Santa Maria, followed by the Catalan group Ginestà. The Youth Area has organized a musical bingo and an evening with local artists.
A new feature this year is the revival of the pubilla (traditional festival queen) and hereu (traditional festival king) figures, who will play an active role throughout the year. Núria Laura Muñoz stated the intention to "recover the tradition" and "return to the roots" in Puigcerdà.
The Pyromusical show and a night dance with the Orquestra Venus will conclude the Festa de l’Estany on Sunday.
