The Puigcerdà government has once again raised the need to build a bus station, a historical demand reactivated due to incidents on the R3 train line and current congestion.

For a decade, Puigcerdà, as the regional capital, has advocated for the construction of a bus station. This request has recently gained momentum due to service disruptions on the R3 line, connecting Ripoll and Cerdanya, caused by Adif's ongoing works. This situation has led to an increase in bus traffic, highlighting the lack of adequate infrastructure.
Currently, the railway station square becomes congested with the arrival and departure of various public transport lines, underscoring the existing problem. The municipal leadership believes that a new terminal would significantly facilitate user mobility and allow for better transport management.

"Following the incidents with the R3, which has greatly increased bus traffic to provide service for the R3 line, it has brought to the forefront the need to reactivate the project for the famous bus station."

The planned location for the future station would be adjacent to the train station, on land owned by Adif. The city council has expressed concern over the company's poor maintenance of this space. The construction of this terminal would not only decongest the current area but also open the door to expanding public transport offerings, with new connections for both the municipality and the region.
Furthermore, the new station would improve the connection between train and bus, a fundamental aspect in a mountainous region where public transport is essential. The demand for this type of service has grown significantly in recent years, from both residents and visitors to the area.
