The Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques has launched this Wednesday a new medical transport model in the Alt Pirineu region, including Cerdanya, backed by a 75.6 million euro investment.

The project involves a comprehensive renewal of healthcare resources, increasing the number of ambulances from 38 to 45 units, an 18.4% rise. These improvements are designed to adapt to the geographical challenges and seasonal demand in areas such as Cerdanya, Pallars Sobirà, and Alt Urgell.
Key highlights include extended service hours in strategic locations like Bellver de Cerdanya, which increases from 12 to 16 hours daily. Additionally, new waiting points have been established in Martinet and Montellà to optimize resource management and ensure faster emergency response times.
The new model incorporates advanced medical technology, allowing emergency units to perform ultrasounds and blood tests on-site. Furthermore, 100% electric shuttle ambulances have been deployed for short-distance transfers between hospitals in La Seu d'Urgell and Cerdanya.
