Civil Protection activated an emergency plan this March 15 due to high winds in Cerdanya and heavy snowfall in the Pyrenees, with gusts reaching 140 km/h.

Forecasts predict up to 20 centimeters of snow at altitudes above 1,200 meters. The combination of snow and wind is expected to cause the torb (blizzard) effect, significantly reducing visibility and wind chill.

"It is a worrying situation due to the loss of visibility. We ask for high vigilance and for people to avoid outdoor activities."

Montse Solé · Civil Protection Deputy Director
The peak of the storm is expected between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM. In the Alt Urgell region, wind speeds have already hit 66 km/h in Organyà. Conditions are expected to stabilize by the evening.
