The technical committee met following reports from the Meteorological Service of Catalonia, which placed the risk at level 4 out of 6. The episode is expected to start tonight and peak on March 15th between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Emergency alerts will be sent to mobile phones in the affected areas to restrict non-essential movement.
The alert also covers Berguedà, Ripollès, and Alt Empordà. While Alt Urgell remains at moderate risk, a gust of 66.6 km/h was already recorded in Organyà this Saturday. Authorities urge extreme caution, particularly in high-altitude areas.
The Generalitat Firefighters have strengthened their operational capacity to handle potential incidents. Professional stations have been reinforced, volunteer stations opened, and the GRAE mountain rescue unit in La Seu d'Urgell has been placed on high alert.
