Isidre Chia expressed his support for the staff of the Regional Council, publicly thanking them for their work and dedication, and categorically denied that information had been withheld for political reasons. He emphasized that the Council is a serious institution working for the region, not for partisan interests, and that he, as president, is apolitical and represents all mayors.
The president considers the insinuations by Mayor Serra about alleged political harm towards Puigcerdà's municipal government to be serious, and asked him to present evidence if he has any, or to stop questioning his honorability and that of the institution. To Councillor Espada, he reminded her that governing means working and solving problems, not declaring wars, and that she should dedicate more effort to these tasks.
Chia highlighted that the Regional Council has always assisted all municipalities, including Puigcerdà, by assuming financial costs for a debt that exceeded one million euros. He pointed out that Puigcerdà is the only municipality with outstanding debt to the Council, and that this financial situation could have been used to generate public wear and tear, which has never been done.
Regarding the difference in waste treatment tariffs, Chia explained that the rest of the municipalities are adopting a more efficient regional collection and recycling model, while Puigcerdà manages collection individually, which can affect treatment costs due to problems in waste separation. He insisted that the aim is to apply technical and environmental responsibility criteria, not to punish anyone.
Finally, Isidre Chia called for working for Puigcerdà and abandoning confrontations, reminding that citizens deserve seriousness, responsibility, and results. He reiterated his commitment to continue working for all of Cerdanya, including Puigcerdà, without political distinctions.
