The Real Federación Española de Deportes de Hielo (RFEDH) issued a statement this Monday confirming the lifting of the suspension that had halted federative activity at the Puigcerdà ice rink for two weeks. The measure had been taken pending confirmation from competent authorities guaranteeing the safety of the sports facility.
The Club Poliesportiu Puigcerdà provided the federation with the official report from the Bombers (Firefighters) and the maintenance company's certificate for the ice resurfacing machine. This documentation was crucial to demonstrate that the facilities can safely host competitions and training sessions again.
“"Having analyzed the documentation, the federation considers it proven that the Club Poliesportiu Puigcerdà is in a condition to immediately host federative activity with complete safety, and that the available resurfacing machine has passed all control tests and is suitable to operate with guarantees."
The RFEDH also specified that the resurfacing machine that caused the carbon monoxide poisoning incident, which affected several people, remains sealed. This machine is pending the necessary certification before it can be used again in the future.
Finally, the federation used the statement to thank all those involved for their collaboration in resolving the situation in Puigcerdà, as well as the understanding shown by the clubs affected by the scheduling changes over the past few weeks.
