The execution of this infrastructure, which will serve the entire municipality, has been awarded to the company ACSA Obras e Infraestructuras SAU for an amount of 1,838,882.22 euros plus VAT. The construction period is expected to last 10 months, including the testing phase and the exploitation service during the guarantee year.
This investment is fully financed by the Agència Catalana de l’Aigua (ACA), with the active participation of the Blancafort City Council to guarantee local wastewater sanitation. The new station will be integrated into the joint sanitation management of the region, alongside the treatment plants in Montblanc, l’Espluga de Francolí, Sta. Coloma de Queralt, Solivella, Senan and the collectors of Vimbodí, Poblet and Les Masies.
The treatment of the generated sludge will be carried out using rhizocomposting, a totally biological and low-cost method that does not require chemical conditioning or a large amount of energy for its operation.
The infrastructure will have a design capacity of 150 m³/day and will feature the necessary equipment to perform biological treatment with nitrogen removal. Furthermore, the installation will include self-consumption photovoltaic panels to minimize the use of conventional grid energy.
Finally, the treatment plant will incorporate equipment to treat part of the purified water and reuse it for industrial purposes within the facility itself, thus avoiding the use of potable network water for maintenance and conservation tasks.
