Forest fire in Barberà de la Conca controlled

Firefighters have extinguished a blaze that burned half a hectare due to an uncontrolled agricultural burn.

The Generalitat Firefighters have controlled a forest fire declared this Saturday morning in the municipality of Barberà de la Conca, in the Conca de Barberà region.

The fire, which started around half past eleven in the morning in the Aubredes area, between the urban center and the AP-2 highway, affected an agricultural zone with woods and burned approximately 5,000 square meters. According to rural agents, the origin of the incident was an uncontrolled agricultural burn.
Seven ground crews from the Montblanc, Valls, Santa Loloma de Queralt, Reus, and Igualada stations, along with personnel from the GRAF and the Emergency Region, as well as a water-bombing helicopter, participated in the extinction efforts. Firefighters used manual tools and water lines to contain and extinguish hot spots.

By one in the afternoon, the emergency services confirmed that the fire was under control. Rural agents and members of the ADF (Forest Defense Associations) were also present.
This incident is part of a day with numerous reports of vegetation fires in the Camp de Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre regions. Firefighters received about ten calls, many of which turned out to be false alarms or controlled burns.
