The project to build an industrial park between Montblanc and l'Espluga de Francolí, promoted by the company Ponentia, faces an uncertain future, with the Montblanc City Council acknowledging a lack of progress and communication.
The viability of the proposed industrial park, intended for the area between l'Espluga de Francolí and Montblanc, was a central topic during the recent municipal plenary session of the Montblanc City Council. The discussion was prompted by an intervention from Pep Andreu, representing Montblanc Progressa, who questioned the current status of an initiative announced almost a year ago, about which, he claimed, no further information had been provided.
Andreu recalled that the proposal was first presented in April of last year at a meeting with landowners. At that time, a logistics park spanning 80 hectares, divided between the two municipalities, was discussed, and attractive conditions, such as the immediate purchase of land at 80,000 euros per hectare, were announced. Since then, information has been scarce, leading Andreu to inquire about any files opened or actions taken.
“
"Since then, we haven't heard anything else. Has any file been opened? Has any action been taken? What is happening?"
The response came from Oriol Pallissó, ERC councilor and member of the governing team, who openly acknowledged the lack of progress and the breakdown in communication with the project's promoting company. Pallissó admitted that the council is unaware of the project's current status and expressed the municipality's discontent.
“
"We have been very attentive, but the reality is that we don't know where it stands. I believe it hasn't progressed and perhaps won't. We feel deceived, because they don't answer our calls."
The councilor also noted that the project had sparked an internal debate about the desired industrial model for Montblanc, suggesting that this reflection might not have been deep enough at the time. Nevertheless, he accepted the situation with self-criticism, emphasizing the importance of apologizing when clear answers are unavailable. The municipal government has set a timeframe to obtain responses, but acknowledges that if there are no developments in the coming months, definitive explanations will be required regarding the project.
