German multinational Palm Group has expressed interest in acquiring International Paper's facilities in Valls and Montblanc, potentially joining other industrial bidders like Cristian Lay.

The Palm Group, a major player in the European packaging sector with an annual turnover of 2 billion euros, is evaluating the two Catalan factories. This comes as labor negotiations between the company and the Generalitat remain stalled, with workers maintaining an indefinite strike.

"They have hinted that they are not interested in selling. It leaves us confused when they say one thing to the Town Hall and another during mediation."

A new meeting is scheduled for Monday to discuss social measures and potential early retirements. The workforce's priority remains the continuity of industrial activity and the preservation of jobs in the Conca de Barberà and Alt Camp regions.
