The multinational International Paper has expressed its willingness to consider purchase offers for its Montblanc and Valls plants, potentially reversing its initial decision to close the facilities.

During a meeting this Monday with the Montblanc City Council, company representatives discussed the future of the packaging sites. This follows last week's official closure announcement, which prompted workers to go on strike in the Conca de Barberà and Alt Camp regions.
While the company justifies the closure as a move toward centralized efficiency, they confirmed they are not closed to a sale. Several firms, including Cristian Lay, have reportedly shown interest in acquiring the plants. Local and regional governments, including the Generalitat, are working to find a solution.

"We will try to offer the best conditions and a good agreement to the workers for the closure."
