Conca de Barberà receives 11,714 tourists this summer with a slight decrease

Catalan and day-trip tourism increases, while European visitors decline and interest in Poblet Monastery remains.

The Tourist Office of Conca de Barberà attended 11,714 people this summer, a similar figure to last year, with a slight decrease of 0.5%. Inquiries increased by 4%.

The Tourist Office of Conca de Barberà, located at the Poblet Monastery Visitor Centre, attended a total of 11,714 people this summer. This figure is practically similar to the same period last year, with a 0.5% decrease. However, the number of inquiries increased by 4%, reaching 3,578.
Catalan tourism represented 37% of the total, with 4,387 people, a 9.6% increase compared to last summer. Within this group, 56% came from Barcelona and its regions. The 40% increase in visitors from the Tarragona regions (1,404 people) is also noteworthy. Visitors from Lleida grew by 7%, while those from Girona represented 3%.
From the rest of Spain, 3,235 people were attended (28% of the total), with a 1.8% increase. Valencians (1,159) and Madrileños (681) were the most numerous groups. A significant growth is observed in visitors from Aragon (+220%), Navarre (+46%), and Madrid (+25%).
European tourism recorded a 19.8% decrease, with 3,677 visitors (31% of the total). France remains the main international market (2,187 people). Despite the general decline, Italian tourism increased by 27%.
Day-trip tourism experienced a significant 88% increase, representing 34% of visitors (3,983 people). Regarding accommodation, 47% stayed on the Costa Daurada, 13% in Conca de Barberà, and 4% traveled by motorhome.
The majority of visitors traveled as couples (46%) or in families with children (38%). The predominant age group is between 41 and 65 years old (73%), followed by retirees (21%).
The Poblet Monastery and Vimbodí i Poblet continue to be major attractions. There is also interest in Conca de Barberà in general, Montblanc, l'Espluga de Francolí, and the Ruta del Cister, which saw a 15% increase in inquiries.
High temperatures negatively affected hiking, with a 26% decrease in related inquiries. Despite a slower start to the season in July and early August, the latter half of August saw a significant improvement.
