After nearly a ten-year hiatus, the regional 'diables' gathering is being revived thanks to the initiative of the Diables Rigor Mortis of Solivella. The proposal, unanimously approved internally, was shared with the other five groups in the region, who enthusiastically welcomed the idea of reuniting annually and reinforcing the sense of belonging to the Conca de Barberà.

A joint meeting of group representatives in mid-December confirmed the desire to reinstate this event, considered key to the fire culture. The main objectives are to resume a paused tradition, foster generational change with children's and adult groups, and position the Conca de Barberà as a benchmark in this field.

The gathering will feature an adaptable format each year, although the children's 'correfoc', the groups' dinner, and the adult 'correfoc' will remain essential activities. This year, Solivella has decided to include a 'correbres' (a type of fire run) to liven up the afternoon, a novelty that may not be repeated in future editions, as each group can bring its own unique touch.

The program is designed for all audiences, with a special emphasis on young people, to ensure the continuity of fire culture in the region. The clear intention is to establish the gathering as a stable event within the annual cultural calendar of the Conca de Barberà, with a commitment to continuity for the next five years.

A major challenge has been the rising costs, but the collaboration of institutions and companies, such as Pirotècnia Catalana, has been crucial. This agreement, which includes discounts on pyrotechnic materials and a final fireworks display, will extend over the next five editions.

The gathering will allow the groups to share experiences, build connections, and work together, beyond their differences. It is particularly important for the children's groups, providing them with a sense of belonging to a tradition larger than their own town.
