The Porta Ferrada Festival, held in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, presented an unforgettable evening with performances by Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals and Nile Rodgers & CHIC. Both artists engaged with an enthusiastic crowd, each contributing their distinct style to a night of high-quality music.
Ben Harper kicked off the night at the Guíxols Arena, delivering an energetic performance with his band. They began with the a cappella rendition of Below Sea Level, followed by an extended version of Jah Work. Harper skillfully alternated between his signature slide guitar and his powerful vocals on tracks like Steal My Kisses, Where Did We Go Wrong, and The Will To Live.
One of the most intimate moments of the night came with Harper's solo performance of Walk Away, before the band rejoined for the forceful tracks Diamonds On The Inside and Say You Will. The concert concluded with With My Own To Hands, a song blending reggae and blues, where Harper encouraged building a better world, dedicating words to drummer Olivia Charles, whom he called "our true leader!". Harper expressed his honor in performing on the same stage as Nile Rodgers & CHIC, a "reference" for him.
“"Are you ready to dance? To party? To have a good time? Lose control!"
Nile Rodgers & CHIC took the stage with a spectacular show from the outset. Rodgers greeted the audience with "Lose control!" and launched into Le Freak, setting the tone for a night of pure funk and disco celebration in Sant Feliu de Guíxols.
The band performed both their own hits and major successes produced by Rodgers. Vocalists Audrey Martells and Naomi Rodgers shone with songs like I'm Coming Out (Diana Ross), Material Girl, and Like a Virgin (Madonna), alongside tracks by David Bowie, Sister Sledge, and Duran Duran. Rodgers also paid tribute to his late friend and bassist Bernard Edwards, dedicating Thinking of You to him.
The grand finale included hits such as CUFF IT (Beyoncé), Get Lucky, and Lose Yourself to Dance (Daft Punk). The party continued with Good Times and Rapper's Delight, concluding an impressive performance that left an "expansive wave" of rhythm and fun.
