The Mare de Déu dels Torrents School in Vimbodí i Poblet recently completed a comprehensive reform to become a climate refuge, thanks to a grant from the Department of Environment.

The works at the Mare de Déu dels Torrents School, located in Vimbodí i Poblet, aim to improve the environmental and energy conditions of the educational facility. The project was made possible by a specific grant from the Department of Environment, intended for ecological mitigation projects.
Key actions included the complete renovation of the exterior enclosures, replacing doors and windows to optimize the building's thermal and acoustic insulation. Furthermore, a new heating and air conditioning system based on aerothermal technology was installed, significantly reducing energy consumption and associated emissions.
A highlight of the project is the installation of solar panels covering the outdoor basketball court. This measure directly contributes to the center's energy self-consumption and optimizes the use of an existing outdoor space.
These improvements ensure more comfortable spaces for the educational community, especially during periods of extreme temperatures. Through this intervention, the school reinforces its commitment to sustainability and moves toward a more resilient educational model facing climate challenges.
