The intervention focuses on the section near the Sant Francesc portal and aims to dignify Tower 13, currently used by the Drac i l’Àliga de Montblanc association. The project, awarded for 157,000 euros, will be entirely financed by European funds and contributions from the Department of Culture, at no cost to the council.
The works include consolidating the pavement, installing a protective railing, and placing aluminum and wooden enclosures with an aesthetic consistent with the Sant Francesc portal tower. Dampness issues in the wall will also be addressed, and archaeological conditions detected during preparation have been considered.
“"We are starting the works for this rehabilitation of the Pas de Ronda, which will give us 110 more meters of route within the visitable area of the wall. The investment is entirely financed by external grants and does not represent any cost for the City Council."
A key objective is to resolve the issues affecting Tower 13, particularly due to the presence of pigeons and weather exposure. The definitive enclosure of the tower will facilitate future uses, which could remain linked to the current association or be opened to other groups.
The works have already begun and are expected to be completed by the end of July, coinciding with the peak tourist season.
