This operation will allow the council to incorporate 7,465 square meters of land for future housing policies. The plots, located on Avinguda Catalunya, Carrer Milmanda, and Carrer del Serè, will be transferred without economic cost and free of charges, as reported by the Society for the Management of Assets from Bank Restructuring (Sareb).
The transfer comes after the city council's expressed interest in these spaces over recent years. Previously, acquiring these properties would have cost 243,500 euros, a price set in 2023. However, a new plan for the gratuitous transfer of assets promoted by Sareb has facilitated this donation without financial consideration.
Two of the plots are part of the Riu Sec–Milmanda Partial Plan, an area that has not yet been urbanistically developed. The city council is evaluating the viability of future residential promotions and is in talks with technical services and potential developers to define the best development options.
Regarding the plot on Avinguda Catalunya, the council plans to submit it to future calls from the Generalitat for the promotion of affordable housing. The objective is to facilitate the construction of new social housing in this location, although its inclusion will depend on the administrative timelines of the transfer.
Additionally, the possibility of provisionally using the plot located at the end of Carrer Milmanda as an area for motorhomes is being studied. This option would be considered while no building works are carried out and will need to be technically validated by the Generalitat's Urban Planning services.
