The Montblanc City Council and the Generalitat de Catalunya have begun work on the construction of a new bus station in the municipality, a long-standing demand to improve service functionality and safety.

The Montblanc City Council Plenary recently addressed the situation of the current bus stop, which has generated numerous complaints due to its deficiencies. The lack of maintenance and structural problems have highlighted the need for a more dignified and safe infrastructure for users.

"A piece of the cornice is missing, cleanliness is conspicuously absent, and buses have to remain half off the street."

In this context, the spokesperson for Esquerra Republicana, Oriol Pallissó, confirmed that a meeting has been held with the Department of Territory of the Generalitat to define the new station project. The planned location is Plaça del Blat, near the Mercadona supermarket, a decision that seeks to improve safety and mobility, especially after the roof of the current stop was affected by recent wind storms.

"It's not a station, it's just a stop, and we've been demanding a decent infrastructure for a long time."

The mayor, Marc Vinya, ratified the council's commitment to the project, assuring that municipal technicians have worked to prepare a proposal that has already been submitted to the Generalitat. The goal is to expedite the processing and avoid further delays in the construction of this key infrastructure for the municipality. Cabello also expressed concern about heavy vehicles passing through sensitive areas such as the Santa Tecla wall, emphasizing the importance of locating the new station outside the current road network.
